Power Foundation of India organised a Five-Day Regional Regulatory Workshop for the Northern Region at the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad. The workshop aimed to strengthen regulatory capacity and enhance sectoral understanding among officials from State Electricity Regulatory Commissions (SERCs) and power utilities across the Northern Region.

The programme was strategically structured to provide comprehensive coverage of the power sector across the electricity value chain. Key sessions focused on power sector reforms, generation, transmission and distribution tariffs, electricity and energy conservation frameworks, power markets, electric mobility, and emerging regulatory challenges. The discussions enabled participants to develop a holistic understanding of tariff determination, regulatory accounting, and policy implementation in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.

The workshop was attended of senior regulatory officials, including officers of Secretary rank, and senior representatives from the Jammu and Kashmir Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission, the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission, and the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission. Their active engagement contributed to informed deliberations grounded in practical regulatory experience.

As part of the programme, participants undertook a technical field visit to the Greenko Integrated Renewable Energy Project at Pinnapuram, Kurnool. The visit provided exposure to the integration of solar, wind, and pumped storage technologies and highlighted the role of hybrid renewable systems in grid stability, resource adequacy, and future power markets.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory session, with the former Chairperson of the Tripura Electricity Regulatory Commission, E. Radhakrishnan, as the Chief Guest. Participants shared highly positive feedback and appreciated the programme’s relevance, depth, and structured approach in addressing critical regulatory issues across the power sector.
